They don't want that nutjob running.

For one, he hurts their gravy train. He's an outsider.
For another thing, if he wins primaries, it shows just how weak Hillary!->'s position really is.

I'd say they don't want him to split the party vote come election day. The best thing they could hope for is to cut a deal with him - Hillary appoints him to a cabinet position, Sanders throws his support behind her prior to the Convention, everyone sings kumbaya.

Sanders doesn't seem like the type of guy who would take that quid pro quo. I think if he doesn't get the nomination, which he won't, he'll end up back in the Senate. I doubt he runs an Indy campaign.
