FBI operated a website distributing child porn.

Post by USN_Hokie »

But only to catch people....distributing porn...so it's ok...or something. :|

The Justice Department acknowledged in court filings that the FBI operated the site, known as Playpen, from Feb. 20 to March 4, 2015. At the time, the site had more than 215,000 registered users and included links to more than 23,000 sexually explicit images and videos of children, including more than 9,000 files that users could download directly from the FBI. Some of the images described in court filings involved children barely old enough for kindergarten.

How is that not entrapment? I mean, this isn't dressing up a cop as a hooker and arresting a John for propositioning. In those stings, the officer never goes through with the actual prostitution/sexual act. This was the FBI committing the crime of distributing child pr0n.
I don't care if you're a Democrat or a Republican... if you refuse to consider alternatives to the two parties, you support the Status Quo and you are a major part of the problem.

I think entrapment occurs when the cops propositions the John. A cop can dress like a hooker and if you offer her sex for money, you are busted. But if a cop dresses like a hooker and approaches you and ask if you want tot have a good time... that's entrapment.

In the online case... the cops can setup a website with whatever (better not to describe it). If you go there and download stuff that is clearly marked as underage... you're busted. But if the cops email you something illegal to entice you come visit, that would be entrapment.

So behave yourselves

No, a better analogy would be to think of the website as a brothel. The website advertised/supported distribution of child pornography. The FBI took possession of the website AND pornography ....then continued to operate it.

What the FBI did runs counter to the reason we have laws against possession of child porn.
