The president does not have power under the Constitution...

“The president does not have power under the Constitution to unilaterally authorize a military attack in a situation that does not involve stopping an actual or imminent threat to the nation" - Barack Obama in 2007

Even George W. Bush would agry with that. Bush sought and received from congress authorization for both wars.

That's probably why they called Syria’s chemical weapons a "National Security (existential?) Threat" to the United States. I'm not sure anyone believes that, of course.

Agreed. I think if Obama strikes without Congressional approval, the criticism would be warranted in this case.

What's more, if the President isn't going to recall Congress into emergency session for this, then it's up to Speaker Bonehead to call Congress back into session... like, TODAY. Never mind that Congress never should have gone on break in the first place, since they still haven't finished the appropriations bill and we're butting up against the debt ceiling again. Frickin' morons.

I don't care if you're a Democrat or a Republican... if you refuse to consider alternatives to the two parties, you support the Status Quo and you are a major part of the problem.
