If Obama had asked for this information on every voter - names, addresses, birth dates, Social Security information, voting history and military status, among other information - how would you react to that?

If the state already has it then the State has it.

Seems CA would want to release the info to put to bed the notion that they had significant voter fraud. Or maybe....

So, you are agreeing that the fed gov should not have that info?

It was wrong of Obama to take over the census. It was a pure move to manipulate census data to improve Dem chances of winning Congressional seats. The SCOTUS already shot down the sampling methods he wanted to employ, in 1999, but I don't think it was ever challenged this time around.
So, if it was wrong of Obama to take that power grab, then it is even worse to give the fed gov access to much more personal and private info, isn't it?

They should have it to investigate voter fraud. Not sure why this is an issue other than burying fraud.

He and the other pretend conservatives and State's rights phonies in this forum would lose their ever-loving minds if Obama did it. Look at the excuse making.

For a history lesson, same thing happened with the Patriot Act. Since a Republican did it and it had that magic word Patriot in the title it didn't bother any of these clowns.

DC and nolan - keep fighting the good fight against the federal government having access to peoples' social security numbers.

This is clear obstruction by states who know they have droves of illegal votes cast in the favor of democrat candidates. The system in California is a complete joke - one can register with no ID, no SSN, and just click a box promising ("swearsies!") they are eligible.

They aren't complying because people would lose their shirt if they saw *how little* info they had.

Its quite interesting how Democrats insist there is no voter fraud, but then when we ask to see proof of the integrity of our voting systems, they immediately run to block access and then say its because of "privacy." BS. They don't want people to know just how rampant this problem really is.

What Are They Hiding? Democrat State Officials Refuse to Assist President Trump’s Voter Fraud Investigation
Jim Hoft Jul 1st, 2017 8:58 am 134 Comments
Guest post by Joe Hoft

Democrat state officials in various states across the union are refusing to assist President Trump in his voter fraud investigation. Democrat politicians from California, Connecticut, Virginia and even Kentucky are not assisting in the President’s efforts to ensure US elections are fraud free:
Connecticut Secretary of the State Denise Merrill said in a statement that her office would provide such information “in the spirit of transparency.” But, suggesting some of the requested data would not be sharable under state law, she said she would ensure “the privacy of voters is honored by withholding protected data.” Merrill also voiced concern that state officials “have not been told precisely what the Commission is looking for.”

Virginia and California were more brazen in their response.

McAuliffe, a former Democratic National Committee chairman and longtime Clinton family ally, said, “At best this commission was set up as a pretext to validate Donald Trump’s alternative election facts, and at worst is a tool to commit large-scale voter suppression.”

The governor declared he would not “divert resources” to this.

California Secretary of State Alex Padilla struck a similar chord, saying in a statement he would “not provide sensitive voter information to a commission that has already inaccurately passed judgment that millions of Californians voted illegally.”

He added, “California’s participation would only serve to legitimize the false and already debunked claims of massive voter fraud made by the President, the Vice President, and Mr. Kobach.”

Kentucky Secretary of State Alison Lundergan Grimes – a Democratic official in a state with a Republican governor – also said she does “not intend to release Kentuckians’ sensitive personal data to the federal government.”

“Kentucky will not aid a commission that is at best a waste of taxpayer money and at worst an attempt to legitimize voter suppression efforts across the country,” she said in a statement.
The officials preventing the President from ensuring the integrity of the election are no doubt the same individuals who claim the President’s accusations of voter fraud are not true.
The Gateway Pundit reported that in Detroit, Michigan, 37% of the precincts had fraudulent voting practices which were uncovered during Hillary Clinton’s recounts requested by Jill Stein. We also reported on a massive voter fraud incident in Nevada where half of the 19,000 votes in one district alone were determined to be fraudulent. Other instances in Detroit were identified during the recounts.

A study from the state of Kansas also found that there are over 7 million voter registrations that appear in two states simultaneously.

The states not providing for the President’s review are most likely guilty of allowing individuals to vote who are not eligible (e.g. illegal aliens, dead people, felons, or people from other states) or guilty of providing for other forms of Democrat voter fraud.

Maybe these fellas have a point. Next the feds can collect data on ammo purchases from registered gun owners. Oh! And also library records. Internet searches. Why stop at just voting records?

Yes. A problem. So, what is your solution to the suspected voter fraud? How would you as Preezy go about making sure this does not happen again in a Federal election?

Correct. Is the Trump admin asking for more info than that? If not, I don't see an issue. Riverguy made a good point. Much, much more info in the census questionnair.

There's a federal law forbidding databases/registries of gun owners. Your analogy is bad and you should feel bad, though - we're talking about information the government already has for every citizen. They're just asking the states to provide their sorting of it.

I might take your fake argument remotely seriously if you attacked the VRA, yet you seem to be fine with federal government meddling when the purpose is to get more democrats voting.

Better luck next time.

Nobody said that. They are asking additional information like WHO YOU VOTED FOR. In addition, they are taking what is clearly defined as a State function. Of course, you clowns are centrists as long as your guy is in office.

Again, if this was requested under Obama's watch all of you defenders, without question, would be screaming from the hilltops. You are as predictable as the sunset and without an ounce of principle.

It's not a state function to determine if registered voters are also registered in other states. The fed has a compelling interest. I think folks would be shocked at (for example) how many college students register and vote in their home state as well as the state they go to school in. Cracking down on that shouldn't be a political issue unless your political party is endorsing it and using it as a political strategy.

I have some shocking news for our liberal friends - the political parties already know how you vote. There has been a ton of statistical science on this matter. The DNC tool in particular was lauded for the statistical accuracy it has in predicting who someone would vote for and how they could use the data to target specific people.

All your Metadata is being collected and sold to interest groups. The government is buying it too...
