Amber 'Jewel' Schuping was so desperate to be blind that she used drain cleaner to take away her eye sight, and now has admitted to thinking about corrective surgery.

From about the age of 13, she was legally blind without her glasses. At around the same time she started to believe that she should have been born blind.

“I felt imprisoned by my sight,” she said, during her appearance on The Dr Phil Show.

“People depend way too much on their eyesight. I think of being empowered and being free when I think of being blind,” Jewel said.
