HokieMas recommended this place as being a popular gringo expat place. It is charming to put it mildly.
I am sitting in a cafe and the American lady next to me is driving me crazy as she is trying to help a young couple figure out how to buy property in town and she won't stop talking long enough to inhale.

Isn't buying property in Mexico as a gringo an incredibly bad idea?

I think there have been examples of people buying on the coasts and the property getting nationalized(aka stolen by the govt).USN_Hokie wrote:Isn't buying property in Mexico as a gringo an incredibly bad idea?
Real estate is pretty cheap here as I don't think there is a mortgage industry.

Probably depends on how valuable it is. Isn't it basically written into their law, though?Bay_area_Hokie wrote:I think there have been examples of people buying on the coasts and the property getting nationalized(aka stolen by the govt).USN_Hokie wrote:Isn't buying property in Mexico as a gringo an incredibly bad idea?

Took a walk to see where the 1% here live. Lots of nice property at the top of the hill. Check out all the construction. I wonder if it is Americans or Mexicans buying.
Lots of cribs like these. I wonder if locals or gringos own these
