Just met bob mcdonnell at a republican dinner in b'burg.

Post by oaktonhokie »

I think he is a great man.

I met him in the governor's mansion after he was elected a few years ago. Told him i'd like to vote for him for president one day. I believe that today.

He was the keynote speaker at the republican fund raising dinner in montgomery county. He talked of the founders, their history in virginia and their beliefs and why they are what makes this country great.

He then addressed his ordeal with the courts. He did not have a bad word to say about anyone. He did not place blame or point fingers. He talked of his faith in god and in the judicial system. He spoke of the hardship on his family and how painful it was after his years of service to the state to be accused by his government of something he did not do. He spoke of the pain for his family as he was convicted. And he spoke of the relief when the supreme court ruled 9-0 to throw out the charges. The court was led by justice breyer who dismantled the government's case point by point.

Unlike virtually all politicians he is believable when he talks of politicians as servants of the people. It makes me very angry that the socialists were able to take him out. The clinton machine and terry mccauliff won. And it cost our state and our nation the services of a good and decent man. And look what has taken his place.

I always thought fondly of him. What happened to him was a complete character assassination. Shame.

It highlights the difference between how low hardcore socialists will go. The Republicans won't go there because they live still live in the era of talkies and Errol Flynn. They won't sacrifice their precious reputations to do what it takes to win. In short, they're compromised pussies.

I said something similar to another guest. That we play touch and they play tackle.

How most often i believe in fighting fire with water, but sometimes you need more fire power and the willingness to use it.

The other guest concurred. They accuse us of something we didn't do....and we apologize.

The democrats took him out to keep him from running for president. Plain and simple.

With their Cap’n and Chief Intelligence Officer having deserted them, River, Ham and Joe valiantly continue their whataboutismistic last stand of the DJT apology tour.

Yeah, they're so alpha, they wear masks to obscure their identities. Very alpha, if you're a little b!tch.

As a point of information, it was 8-0 (Scalia had passed a few months before) and Roberts wrote the opinion.

I like McDonnell but I remember Bill Kristol praising him after he won election in Virginia. He something like McDonnell was the model for the future of the Republican party - very dry and boring (of course he could not have been more wrong). But getting praise from someone like Kristol gives me pause about McDonnell. Kristol has proven himself to be the very essence of the establishment.
