This is one of a handful of things the congressional republicans are doing right, the government has no interest in propping up one vehicle over another. Especially at the expense of limiting gas taxes collected which pay for the roads. Everyone is equal in the eyes of the government.

The $7500 credit was due to expire once Tesla had sold 200k vehicles, which was expected to occur about a year from now.

I believe that's *start phasing out* at 200k *US vehicle sales*

The result here shows phasing out wasn't baked into the cake.

Yes, there is a 1 year phase-out period. Tax credit drops to $3,750 for 6 months, then $1875 for 6 months, then to zero. Point being it was going away soon anyway.
