I know what will fix this - more raises and cushy contracts for the teachers union.

This is why it is such a great idea to make Virginia, Maryland.

But it's diverse and equal! A shithole for everyone.

Don't you know the testing methods are racist and we must lower the standards to make it equal.

I had one such genius tell me that I lost an argument because I defined a term with the dictionary. When you use dem books, you've lost! They see education as a form of racism. It's like dealing with African tribes that believe penicillin is evil and so will kill the white devil doctor trying to administer it. That's the mentality at play here.

Why do public educators make up this crap that teaching kids is so hard? I would love to spend a week in one of these school to see what is going on.

In Baltimore, it's hard because the kids are unruly and don't want to learn. It's a lot of work.

To be fair, teaching inner city kids is probably next to impossible. My guess is both the teachers and students mentally checked out a long time ago and are just going through the motions.

Parents don’t care, and the kids don’t care. Teacher can't make them do homework or study and you’re not allowed to kick students out for underperformance, unfortunately.

If someone receives social welfare benefits, then unruly school behavior from their children should result in termination of benefits. Another option is domestic court. Throw the parent's ass in jail if they're unwilling to control their children.

Punishment works if the ground rules are well established.

Maybe bad kids should just be kicked out of school, sent to the rock pile.

I am always tough on teachers as I think they are often crybabies. I know way too much about the personal problems of my kid's teachers for example. It often seems like a bunch of fat women in they verge of a nervous breakdown. We live in one of those areas where all the parents are jacked up about academics so it's the exact opposite of inner city, BUT a lot of the teachers I see at least seem frazzled all the time. Maybe it is cause my kids are in middle school.
