Fast food strikes. What will we do?!?

Post by Hokie5150 »

So, how much will a Big Mac cost when McDonald's is paying their people $15/hr?

The cost is too high whatever it is. A Big Mac has 550 calories and 29 grams of fat. Might as well forgo actually ingesting it and tape the sandwich to your midsection or butt.

$15 is absurd. I wonder, though, if the new McDonald's workers are making more than minimum wage. They have remodeled a few of the McDonald'ses around here to have the McCafe style are the new employees seem to be a cut above what they used to have. (They are polite, they act like they want to be there.)

it's all about lowering the min so unions can raise their member salaries as well to be in alignment with the new wage index.

Don't worry, congress will say we don't have enough qualified fast food workers, so they will create the Mc1D visa. McShitz can then get workers from excrement hole countries and make them live 20 to an apartment, so that America can compete.

You're about to see strip shop centers, already plagued with vacancies, suddenly with boarded up fast food joints.
There's no market for a $20 Big Mac.

Where the Hell do these people get the idea that A) the work they do is WORTH $15 per hour and B) that an entry-level job is supposed to be "comfortable"?

ANY MORON with a quarter of brain can do minimum wage work. If you have a minimum wage job YOU ARE EXPENDABLE. You could walk out the door and the Company would have 10 applicants all fighting over the opportunity to replace your dumb ass. Secondly, if you're working for minimum wage 3 months after you're hired then you either SUCK at your job, or your boss is a penny-pinching tight-ass. Either way you're going nowhere fast in that company and you need to leave and find something better. Minimum wage is a foot in the door. It is not now, nor was ever, intended to be a way for anyone to "make a living" for themselves, much less support a family of 4. You work for minimum wage just as long as it takes for you to realize you don't want to do this crap for the rest of your life so you double your effort to get good grades in school so you can improve your lot in life.
I don't care if you're a Democrat or a Republican... if you refuse to consider alternatives to the two parties, you support the Status Quo and you are a major part of the problem.

preach on brother hokie.... the real issue is with other jobs disappearing it is not just young people taking the fast food jobs anymore. And they were making more money in other mfg type jobs before or admin type work for companies but since those are disappearing fast and those people only have the skills to go do fast food work and the workers are needed they now realize they can't make it on the wages that industry pays. So now it is a crisis
