Hollywood’s attempt to glamorize the WP, NYT and fake news is a huge flop.........

Spielberg fast tracked a movie to glorify the Post and the NYT. Stars Tom Hanks and......Meryl Streep. They did this to combat the Trumpster turning the left’s initial “fake news” (Fox) mantra back on them....and in a much more effective way. They won’t admit it, but it’s exactly why they made this movie.USN_Hokie wrote:What is going on?
I wonder why it only made $2M? Oh, probably because it was showing in a grand total of NINE theaters in the entire country. It doesn’t go into wide release until mid-January. Check out the average gross per screen.HokieHam wrote:$50M budget.........$2M opening.......finished behind a ShiRt ton of movies in revenue.

Nice attempt at stickin’ it to the libs though!
Didn’t do my journalistic duty. I saw an add for it and wondered how it did, since the box office this year is down big time anyway.nolanvt wrote:Ham fell for fake news. The last Spielberg/Hanks film (Bridge of Spies, 2015) only made $165M in box office, so yeah I’m sure it’s gonna flop.HokieHam wrote:Oops.....LOL. It’s still gonna bomb.
Taking bets?

The rapists and degenerates are going to restore honor to the liars? That's hilarious.HokieHam wrote:Spielberg fast tracked a movie to glorify the Post and the NYT. I assume this is the movie that Hanks said he wouldn't screen at the White House.

Made $92M. Not directed by Spielberg, not starring Tom Hanks and Meryl Streep.RiverguyVT wrote:A movie about the news. LOL. Yeah. How could it possibly miss?
Gee, ya think? The Post is so on the nose for the political moment that at times it almost seems it might have been produced not by Spielberg, but by some high-end marketing firm

Spotlight is a movie about the news like Titanic is a movie about seamanship, or Jaws is a movie about fishing.HooFighter wrote:Made $92M. Not directed by Spielberg, not starring Tom Hanks and Meryl Streep.RiverguyVT wrote:A movie about the news. LOL. Yeah. How could it possibly miss?

That's a movie about reporting on Catholic Church pedophilia, covered by the Boston Globe. The Globe was tertiary to the plot; it was about pedophilia. This movie will be about ...the Post. LMAO. What a snore fest.HooFighter wrote:Made $92M. Not directed by Spielberg, not starring Tom Hanks and Meryl Streep.RiverguyVT wrote:A movie about the news. LOL. Yeah. How could it possibly miss?

*This* movie is, by all accounts, literally about the news.
