at the town pools. I was usually assigned to one, but they'd rotate us a bit. I prayed to never have to save someone, and I didn't ever need to.
That said, I've been on hand for several such emergencies and glad someone better equipped than myself was available. Once, at Mexico Beach, FL w/ the kids there was a woman that I wouldn't have worked on as long as they did ...and she miraculously "came to". Thank God it wasn't my decision. They worked on her for what seemed like an half hour.
Another time, much more sad, was a dad that died in front of his son at Va Beach.
