Maybe I'm stating the obvious.

We've had this board since 9/11 (thereabouts). Chaotic times. The country "fundamentally changed" (airport security, etc). The chaotic times led to horrendous decisions -Patriot Act, Homeland Security that have done nothing to keep us safer but have made us less free.

Then came Obama (now we know he's at minimum bi, maybe even just gay...Mike uh, I mean Michelle always seems so angry and depressed in public these days...) whose idea of "fundamental change" was to turn the US in to a banana republic. His idea of "equity" was not to make the US stronger so to be more able to help the weak, but to tragically weaken the country so to give an illusion of being "more equal" with the likes of Haiti. Equity through kneecapping.

Then came dRuMpF~!. Wildly hated by the left, he was harangued like no other in history. No one's ever gone through what he has and still does. Is he a goofball? Absolutely. He was succeeding in turning around some of Obama's vandalism when COVID was unleashed upon us. Now, it looks a whole lot like Chinese germ warfare.

Now we have the bumbling idiot, who is being controlled by unaccountable actors. Communists. He has, through his actors, continued Obama's decimation and has us on the brink of WWIII. A nuclear one. His handlers are jailing and harassing "enemies" like something out of a dystopian novel. Chinese infiltration on many levels. Combine this with a media that refuses to dare mention what's really going on (Biden corruption, etc).

...The combination of unaccountable communists with a PR arm through MSM and entertainment, an absolutely failed education system (none of the "man on the street" interviews can seem to find a person who knows more about the VP than about Kim Kardashian), and we have a recipe for losing the country. If one wanted this country to collapse, and could do it, I don't think he'd change a thing.

I can remember there were a few of us on the old UWS (oakton, USN, AG, Ham, you, etc.) that were trying to warn other of just how dangerous the Obama Presidency was. We were mostly mocked by the hoity-toity "moderates" and leftists on the board. But pretty much everything we warned about (and more) has come to pass. We are living through a real colour (communist) revolution and the perps aren't even trying to hide it anymore. And in hind site, it wasn't Obama that started it all, it was the federal government's (Bush's) reaction to 9/11. But now we know that the uniparty was and is all in on it.

I read a somewhat related article yesterday that reminded me of how far America has fallen since it was the beacon of hope & freedom around the world. Here's a exerpt:

Everywhere there were long lines of dispirited people, looking like a defeated army. Even some years ago the growing state-sponsored squalor of San Francisco was becoming evident in some parts of the city. Now I dread to go back at all. But behind it lay a feeling of a country in decline. I do not just mean that the country seems poorer and shabbier, a sensation that has grown stronger and stronger since the Iraq War. I no longer have that sensation of sunny liberation I had back in the 1970s and 1980s whenever I set foot there. Some years ago I wrote a little optimistically about how the first sight of Cape Race in Newfoundland (the first American landfall for those arriving by sea from Europe) lifted my spirits because the continent beyond was mostly under the rule of law and protected by jury trial and the Bill of Rights. Now I think it is suffering a new birth of unfreedom, in which these safeguards grow weaker every day.

I think we are seeing the Maoists completely emboldened in just about everything currently. I think what we should have……needed to comes to terms with is there is NO neutrality. I’ve been hearing this from a lot of people. I follow James Lindsay, but he believes in a neutral political sphere. He’s a classic liberal…..but what he doesn’t know is he’s part of the problem.

But here’s the deal: Any hate-fueled, violent revolution is antithetical to the Jesus I know. To be clear, Jesus launched a revolution, but his revolution was nonviolent, fueled by love. In fact, the one time we see one of his followers commit an act of violence — when Peter drew his sword and cut off Malchus’ ear at Jesus’ arrest — Jesus rebuked Peter, and then Jesus healed Malchus.

And despite Jesus’ commitment to nonviolence, rioters at the Capitol screamed, “Hang Mike Pence!” An orange noose alongside a “Jesus saves” sign outside in the crowd. Zip ties for hostage-taking and a Christian flag inside congressional chambers.

Church, we have work to do.

Who is making politics their religion, and why would you even suggest anyone is?

Who is “scared of a changing world”? Is it fear?
As for the euphemism “change” do you think it just a matter of kinetics instead of stasis that has anyone bothered? That’s a weird conclusion to come to.

Donald Trump effectively captured the spirit of the anti-democratic impulse by engaging in nostalgia politics as expressed through his “Make America Great Again” campaign, Gushee said. “I call it authoritarian, reactionary Christianity. I like that phrase somewhat better than ‘Christian nationalism’ because the word ‘reactionary’ is really important here. Picture people you know who are mainly outraged, appalled or terrified at how America is now. A lot of them have a label for what’s gone wrong: America has gone liberal, decadent or woke. God has been pushed out of public life.”

Americans frustrated by that perception have simultaneously lost confidence in democracy and other traditional approaches to solving social and political challenges, he added. “Missions and evangelism aren’t working. Educating kids in Christian values isn’t working. The political process isn’t working the way people think it should. And so, increasingly, people are flirting with radical ideas. Maybe we need a takeover that is more aggressive. Maybe violence is required.”

It certainly is according to former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, Gushee noted, who took to his TBN television show recently to warn the 2024 presidential election will be the last decided by ballots if Trump is kept from running or is defeated due to the criminal cases against him.

“He said it will be be bullets next time,” Gushee said. “And Huckabee used to be a Baptist pastor. It’s that kind of rhetoric indicating a radicalization of people who are saying well, OK, forget the niceties of democratic politics, maybe we need to storm the Capitol, maybe we need to talk about bullets in an environment of fear and intimidation. And radicalization is what I’m talking about. The mainstreaming of radicalization has happened during the last decade or so.”

That radicalization incorrectly supposes strong differences cannot be addressed without resorting to violent conflict, he explained. “Part of the definition of democracy is not that we don’t have disputes, but that we resolve them nonviolently through the political process. We deeply, fundamentally disagree about things, and we submit our disagreements to the political process of voting in elections. And if we lose, we may be bitterly disappointed, but we don’t get out the guns and start shooting people and we don’t rush the Capitol and start threatening to hang people.”
