Stuff's getting real.

Post by RiverguyVT »

Maybe I'm stating the obvious.

We've had this board since 9/11 (thereabouts). Chaotic times. The country "fundamentally changed" (airport security, etc). The chaotic times led to horrendous decisions -Patriot Act, Homeland Security that have done nothing to keep us safer but have made us less free.

Then came Obama (now we know he's at minimum bi, maybe even just gay...Mike uh, I mean Michelle always seems so angry and depressed in public these days...) whose idea of "fundamental change" was to turn the US in to a banana republic. His idea of "equity" was not to make the US stronger so to be more able to help the weak, but to tragically weaken the country so to give an illusion of being "more equal" with the likes of Haiti. Equity through kneecapping.

Then came dRuMpF~!. Wildly hated by the left, he was harangued like no other in history. No one's ever gone through what he has and still does. Is he a goofball? Absolutely. He was succeeding in turning around some of Obama's vandalism when COVID was unleashed upon us. Now, it looks a whole lot like Chinese germ warfare.

Now we have the bumbling idiot, who is being controlled by unaccountable actors. Communists. He has, through his actors, continued Obama's decimation and has us on the brink of WWIII. A nuclear one. His handlers are jailing and harassing "enemies" like something out of a dystopian novel. Chinese infiltration on many levels. Combine this with a media that refuses to dare mention what's really going on (Biden corruption, etc).

...The combination of unaccountable communists with a PR arm through MSM and entertainment, an absolutely failed education system (none of the "man on the street" interviews can seem to find a person who knows more about the VP than about Kim Kardashian), and we have a recipe for losing the country. If one wanted this country to collapse, and could do it, I don't think he'd change a thing.

Civilization is collapsing.

Drinking coffee this morning, day off and heading out of town to a wedding, I find myself thinking....

This is God's hands. Not mine. Not yours. His. I need to not stress. I may just indeed see balls of fire. I hope not. I hope to be gone before that. Still, this is a very good time to be Christian. Perhaps the best time ever in human history. Read Jeremiah, folks.

I can remember there were a few of us on the old UWS (oakton, USN, AG, Ham, you, etc.) that were trying to warn other of just how dangerous the Obama Presidency was. We were mostly mocked by the hoity-toity "moderates" and leftists on the board. But pretty much everything we warned about (and more) has come to pass. We are living through a real colour (communist) revolution and the perps aren't even trying to hide it anymore. And in hind site, it wasn't Obama that started it all, it was the federal government's (Bush's) reaction to 9/11. But now we know that the uniparty was and is all in on it.

I read a somewhat related article yesterday that reminded me of how far America has fallen since it was the beacon of hope & freedom around the world. Here's a exerpt:
And then it all changed. It was of course 9/11 that signaled the alteration and darkened the sky, the growing mistrust, the boot-faced bureaucracy. This was bad enough for Americans, but perhaps even more dismaying for foreign admirers. Bit by bit, the glitter came off. There were actual crashes on the D.C. Metro. Washington became enormous, sprawling forever into Northern Virginia and Maryland. I felt increasingly as if it was somewhere else, unlike the optimistic, spacious America I thought I knew. Travel round the country, once so relaxed and spacious, became tedious with excessive security, more spartan and more crowded. I know these are only impressions, but what else do I have? The trains grew worse, and Amtrak began serving its breakfasts (once superb) on plates made out of some ersatz composition instead of proper china.

On my last visit a change of planes at a major mid-western hub was so dingy and exhausting, and the airport itself so tired, crowded, and unwelcoming, that the experience was almost as bad as that Mach 2 plunge into twilight back in 1977. Everywhere there were long lines of dispirited people, looking like a defeated army. Even some years ago the growing state-sponsored squalor of San Francisco was becoming evident in some parts of the city. Now I dread to go back at all. But behind it lay a feeling of a country in decline. I do not just mean that the country seems poorer and shabbier, a sensation that has grown stronger and stronger since the Iraq War. I no longer have that sensation of sunny liberation I had back in the 1970s and 1980s whenever I set foot there. Some years ago I wrote a little optimistically about how the first sight of Cape Race in Newfoundland (the first American landfall for those arriving by sea from Europe) lifted my spirits because the continent beyond was mostly under the rule of law and protected by jury trial and the Bill of Rights. Now I think it is suffering a new birth of unfreedom, in which these safeguards grow weaker every day.

Uni-Party is correct.

Obeezy did a ton of damage, top on my list being what he did to healthcare…….

But they all have. DrumpF! was the guy out of the beltway that had to be destroyed, but even if it had been another Pub, the left would have demonized him just as well.

I think we are seeing the Maoists completely emboldened in just about everything currently. Persecuting political enemies, struggle sessions, abolishment of free speech, weaponizing agencies against one side, etc…..the Chinese woman worried about our nation is spot on. Unfortunately, Recip isn’t the only Bai-Zuo……..

I think what we should have……needed to comes to terms with is there is NO neutrality. I’ve been hearing this from a lot of people. I follow James Lindsay, but he believes in a neutral political sphere. He’s a classic liberal…..but what he doesn’t know is he’s part of the problem.

If you care, this is a really good discussion about it……from a Christian worldview.

It is always a good time to be a Christian.😁. If you pay attention to how God dealt with evil nations and even His own people, you might believe what we’re going through and what I believe is coming (could be wrong)……well…….

Progressives and leftists have turned this country into Koch/Dinkins era NYC with a side of Bolshevik authoritarianism.

Making politics ones' religion.....what could go wrong....

I'm sorry a changing world is so frightening for all of you. I recommend travel, outside, and not succumbing to the culture war rage porn you must spend so much time on to curate it here for your pow-wow.

But here’s the deal: Any hate-fueled, violent revolution is antithetical to the Jesus I know. To be clear, Jesus launched a revolution, but his revolution was nonviolent, fueled by love. In fact, the one time we see one of his followers commit an act of violence — when Peter drew his sword and cut off Malchus’ ear at Jesus’ arrest — Jesus rebuked Peter, and then Jesus healed Malchus.

And despite Jesus’ commitment to nonviolence, rioters at the Capitol screamed, “Hang Mike Pence!” An orange noose alongside a “Jesus saves” sign outside in the crowd. Zip ties for hostage-taking and a Christian flag inside congressional chambers.

Church, we have work to do.

Again, more proof of how insulated you are, Bubbles.

You have it backwards. My religion informs my politics.

The changing world has consequences, Bubbles. Specifically, chopping the dicks and tits off of minors……now work out to where this thing is headed. Look at the Degrowth movement and everything else the Maoists are running up the flagpole.

Ah, the pow-wow/circle jerk argument. All of you leftists have…..left, because your ideology is being shown for what it is on this little board…..and anytime you try to defend what’s going on, well, I guess most of you are tired of it too. Either that or you all want what is playing out. I’ll take the latter.

Who here has called for a revolution? Show me. Who has called for a violent one? As an avowed atheist, maybe you should read the words of Jesus……and the rest of His Word, more carefully.

Ah…..always back to J6. As Joe said, now do BLM and Antifa……we know you won’t.

He won't. It always goes unsaid, but leftists clearly think certain groups on their side should be held to lower behavioral standards. Maybe they think these groups just aren't capable of good behavior. Sounds some kind of -ist to me.

Donald Trump effectively captured the spirit of the anti-democratic impulse by engaging in nostalgia politics as expressed through his “Make America Great Again” campaign, Gushee said. “I call it authoritarian, reactionary Christianity. I like that phrase somewhat better than ‘Christian nationalism’ because the word ‘reactionary’ is really important here. Picture people you know who are mainly outraged, appalled or terrified at how America is now. A lot of them have a label for what’s gone wrong: America has gone liberal, decadent or woke. God has been pushed out of public life.”

Americans frustrated by that perception have simultaneously lost confidence in democracy and other traditional approaches to solving social and political challenges, he added. “Missions and evangelism aren’t working. Educating kids in Christian values isn’t working. The political process isn’t working the way people think it should. And so, increasingly, people are flirting with radical ideas. Maybe we need a takeover that is more aggressive. Maybe violence is required.”

It certainly is according to former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, Gushee noted, who took to his TBN television show recently to warn the 2024 presidential election will be the last decided by ballots if Trump is kept from running or is defeated due to the criminal cases against him.

“He said it will be be bullets next time,” Gushee said. “And Huckabee used to be a Baptist pastor. It’s that kind of rhetoric indicating a radicalization of people who are saying well, OK, forget the niceties of democratic politics, maybe we need to storm the Capitol, maybe we need to talk about bullets in an environment of fear and intimidation. And radicalization is what I’m talking about. The mainstreaming of radicalization has happened during the last decade or so.”

That radicalization incorrectly supposes strong differences cannot be addressed without resorting to violent conflict, he explained. “Part of the definition of democracy is not that we don’t have disputes, but that we resolve them nonviolently through the political process. We deeply, fundamentally disagree about things, and we submit our disagreements to the political process of voting in elections. And if we lose, we may be bitterly disappointed, but we don’t get out the guns and start shooting people and we don’t rush the Capitol and start threatening to hang people.”

All for a restraint from violence, but are we allowed to look at who's committing violent crime (regardless of what thoughts are going through their heads while committing those crimes) and what political party they support? I think you'll find that Democrats are much more violent than Republicans.

You’re now quoting David Gushee….bwahahaha. This is a guy who also doesn’t understand the Scriptures and twists them for his purposes. Once his son came out as gay, he suddenly changed his position from an orthodox one to one of capitulating.

Try harder.

Edit/add:

And you won’t even address the issue. You post random stuff from another insular bubble person. It’s rather hilarious.

Mitt……

1. You really should stop lobbing verses of Scripture without understanding what it is getting at…..
2. So, I’m assuming you are saying we are “hating” or being “angry” at someone. I’m betting you have a Love Trumps Hate bumper sticker…….this is just more leftist tactics used to accuse others. There is such a thing as righteous anger……….
3. In your other post, you quote Gushee about turning the other cheek. Gushee has a doctorate in some form of biblical studies and even he doesn’t understand the context of that phrase. Why? Because he’s politicizing it, as all leftists do.
4. It’s funny that the one who complains about “sides”, posts about sides. There are clear choices for a Christian when voting by having that vote informed BY the Scriptures. One clear choice is that you cannot vote for the Democrat Party given where they have been and are.

You can't loot and riot your whole life, Mittens. It will catch up to you eventually. I suspect prison time is awaiting you unless you amend your rotten ways and cast away the lies which too frequently spill out of your stubby digits.

The time is now to repent of your Bolshevik sins and drop the dime on your looting, rioting, murdering fellow traveller's!

It appears to me that Mittens is trying to play a guilt by association game. It's been his MO multiple times. You dislike Biden, therefore you're unchristian and an iNsUrReCtiOniSt.

So by the same logic, isn't he guilty by association of the worst behaving Dems? Hoo boy - that's a rough crowd. Not a lot of taxes paid, either.

He sure is. That's why I have demanded that he atone for his sins.

Buh, buh, buh it's mAgAtS and Weeeeepubwican's who are the threat!

Per ANQUEEFA aCtiViSts own words, Mittens:
Anti-fascist activists, or “antifa,” increasingly mobilized in the wake of President Trump’s election, are unapologetic about what they describe as the necessary use of violence to combat authoritarianism.

While both experts on the movement and activists within it emphasize that not everyone who participates in anti-fascist activism engages in violence, they say the use of force is intrinsic to their political philosophy.

“The justification [of the use of violence] is that Nazi ideology at its very core is founded on violence and on wielding power by any means,” said Mike Isaacson, one of the founders of Smash Racism D.C., an antifa organization in Washington.

Now, where is your condemnation of this Bolshevik revolutionary? Repent!

Who is making politics their religion, and why would you even suggest anyone is?

Who is “scared of a changing world”? Is it fear?
As for the euphemism “change” do you think it just a matter of kinetics instead of stasis that has anyone bothered? That’s a weird conclusion to come to.

And then you get into some bizarre rant about hate-filled revolutions and Jesus (about Whom you’ve shown precious little understanding in the past). Please do expand and explain this stream of consciousness.

And then jAnUArY 6tH~!

Mitt Romney wrote: Sat Sep 09, 2023 1:09 am Donald Trump effectively captured the spirit of the anti-democratic impulse by engaging in nostalgia politics as expressed through his “Make America Great Again” campaign, Gushee said.

Are these thoughts of Gushee’s up for discussion? The guy takes great liberties with the language and meanings of words, while displaying a pitiful lack of understanding of those he is so afraid of.
