UWS Bowl Pick 'em
UWS Bowl Pick 'em
By popular demand, we're switching to ESPN this year because Yahoo has been stinking things up. Though obviously you are welcome to sign up however you want, I highly recommend making a gmail (or similar service) account that doesn't involve your name to sign up for such things. With Yahoo, we saw them change their security settings one year with no disclosure to publish everyone's email addresses.
So anyway ... get your picks in!

BigDave,
So the confidence points.....I assume that confidence points = 1, is your lowest confidence pick? It threw me cause that is listed at the top, where in the Yahoo one that is where we put our highest confidence pick.

Yeah, I know ... that's a weird layout to it. But the instructions say you are correct - the game you are least confident about is at the top of the screen and gets 1 point.Bay_area_Hokie wrote:BigDave,

I assume PPR must mean possible points reminding. The % is where your current earned points compare to everyone else playing this in the universe of espn. Note that all of us are in the upper half.

Re: UWS Bowl Pick 'em
I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas. Or, excuse me for being non-politically correct, an acceptable day in late December when for some weird reason most government agencies and businesses are closed.
Following the completion of the pre-Christmas bowls, or, excuse me, the pre-day-in-late-December-when-for-some-weird-reason-most-government-agencies-and-businesses-are-closed bowls, here are our standings:
1. BigDave (175, 605 possible points)
2. West End Hokie (169, 594 possible points)
3. Elberto Hokie (161, 609 possible points)
4. Bay Area Hokie (134, 681 possible points)
5. Major Kong (130, 584 possible points)
6. Upstate SC Hokie (113, 642 possible points)
7. HokieFanDC (108, 678 possible points)
Major Kong has earned his 41 and 40-point games, but picked incorrectly on 38 and 39.
West End has a 41 in the house.
Everyone else is still waiting patiently for their big-point games.

Re: UWS Bowl Pick 'em
So it looks like they simply removed the BC-BSU game and your most confident game is now 40 points instead of 41.
For example, yesterday I said that Major Kong had earned his 41 and 40, but incorrectly picked his 38 and 39. But now, he has correctly picked his 40 and 39, but incorrectly picked his 37 and 38.

If Kong and WestEnd have Clemson, and Clemson wins, then I will occupy the cellar.

Re: UWS Bowl Pick 'em
Much like everyone else in the country who has the good sense to not wear purple and orange together, I was shocked at the degree of Clemson's butt-whipping of Alabama ... or that Clemson won at all. I would have had Alabama in the NFL playoffs - they just looked to be once-in-a-generation type good.
But Clemson exposed them - Tua has made a living throwing passes to wide-open receivers that were just outrunning the slower defensive backs he faced. That strategy doesn't work when someone can actually run with your receivers.
For our game here, some obnoxious #NEVERTRUMP guy won this year. See everyone in a few months for March Madness!
