So, what does this mean? Who advances?

I rekkin' it all hinges on USA-Germany and Ghana-Portugal this week...Win and you advance. Tie you probably advance. Lose and I don't know.

First half observations against the geese. From someone who knows nothing about soccer.

That ronaldo guy looks like a dandy, a pansy, a metrosexual. Does he wear makeup? I don't like him.

Looks like we are out playing the geese except for that one excruciatingly stupid play.

What a game between Germany and Ghana. Too bad it didn't end with a winner.

Late yellow card on Muntari and the penalty kick by Kroos made an interesting ending.

He's a prima donna, but he's a very freaking talented prima donna, as we saw on his crosser to tie the game.

From the point of view of this novice, seems we made a lot of loose plays especially late in the game. Could not keep possession.

And frankly, I am not impressed with our goalie.

Again, this from someone who knows very little about the game. The goalie for the geese looked much, much better than our guy.

2-2? Hellfar how freakin' sloppy can you get at the end of the match? Talking about snatching a tie out of the jaws of victory there it was.

Win = Advance
Draw = Advance
Lose and Portugal/Ghana draw = Advance

Lose and (a lot of scenarios)
Basically, US lose by one and Ghana win by two is the most likely scenario that could puts us out of the second round. The tie breaker after goal differential (which we would be tied) is total goals. Same goes with Portugal but it will be a little harder for them due to their goal differential.

From the point of view of this novice, seems we made a lot of loose plays especially late in the game. Could not keep possession.

And frankly, I am not impressed with our goalie.

Again, this from someone who knows very little about the game. The goalie for the geese looked much, much better than our guy.

I did like, from what the announcers said, the subs used by the coach. Those young guys who came in very late were fast and well rested. Seemed to me, duh, that they played well.

This annoys the heck out of me....do the players/fans/coaches/announcers know how much time is left in the game? Why can't these people have a clock that stops on out of bounds play, injuries....and why no time outs?

Just because they have only three refs to cover eleven square miles of field?
Just because there are no time outs?
Just because no one knows how much time is left?
Just because the offside rule is ridiculous and almost impossible to adjudicate (see first line, above)
Just because fans will kill each other if their team doesn't win?

Talking about gakking up at the end of the match, Mexico did it big time against the Dutch.

Kinda a shame to have the final goal occur like that as a result of a foul. When I first saw it I thought geez flop much? Then after seeing it in slow motion yeah it was a foul but still the flopping was over the top.

Costa Rica 5-3 in penalty kicks into the ¼'s...CR played the last 22 minutes of regular time and 30 minutes of extra time one man short.
