‘F— your life!’: N.J. professor caught bashing conservative student

A New Jersey college professor is being investigated by school officials for classroom footage of him berating a conservative student with “F— your life!”
Students who registered for Howard Finkelstein’s Sociology 105, Intercultural Communication course at Brookdale Community College say it has devolved into polemic against 23-year-old Christopher Lyle. Footage obtained by NJ Advance Media on Tuesday shows Mr. Finkelstein hurling an expletive at the student during a discussion on sexual harassment.
“F— your life!” the professor snaps after Mr. Lyle asks for a “real-life example” for the class to examine.
“Why are you disrespecting me right now?” the student responds. “You don’t have to personally do anything.”
Student Joey Smith provided the video to NJ.com and said he doesn’t even agree with Mr. Lyle on numerous issues.
“[Mr. Finkelstein] is basically just lecturing this one student for the whole period,” Mr. Smith, 26, told the website. “We are sitting there, and he is speaking directly to Chris, going back and forth about personal thoughts.”
College spokeswoman Avis McMillon told the website that a statement would not be issued on the matter until an investigation concludes.
“I am being discriminated against at my school because of my beliefs,” Mr. Lyle said. “It’s a shame. … I pay money to learn. I don’t pay money to get lectured on my beliefs.”
The student added that he was pulled out of another class and questioned like a potential threat because he is a Second Amendment supporter who owns a personal firearm.
Mr. Finkelstein did not respond to the outlet’s request for comment.
“It is in the best interest of all members of our community for the college to do its due diligence when a student or employee mentions firearms during the process of an investigation,” the college said. “The matter concerning the student’s statements about firearms has been investigated and the incident is closed.”
